Ike Khumalo age

Ike Khumalo (born 1972) is a South African advocate, political analyst, and model. He is currently an advocate of the High Court of the Republic of South Africa.

The advocate is also a controversial figure known for his strong opinions and critical analysis of the state’s politics. He served as the Campaign Officer and Legal Adviser of the Creative Workers Union of SA (2005-2012).

Early Life

Ike Thamsanga Khumalo was born in 1972 in Orlando East, Soweto, South Africa. He grew up in Pimville, Klipspruit, after his father and mother moved there.

Education

Advocate Khumalo had matric at Musi High School, Pimville, in 1991. He studied law at the University of South Africa (UNISA), majoring in labor, international law, environmental law, and constitutional law.

Khumalo completed a Master’s Degree in Labor Law from the University of South Africa in 2017. He also obtained a Certificate in Multicultural Conflict and Problem Solving from RAU. He also completed a one-year certificate course in student development and skills at UNISA.

Career

As an advocate of the high court, Khumalo focused on civil litigation in personal injury and labor law from 2011 to 2022. He served as the campaign officer and legal adviser of the Creative Workers Union of South Africa (CWUSA) for ten years (2005 – 2015).

Khumalo wears other hats as an actor, model, and freelance actor. He has worked with numerous casting and modeling agencies and has appeared in television, theatre, and film, but has left the industry.

From 2003 to 2005, Khumalo served as the National Organiser for Performing Arts Workers Equity (PAWE). He focused on RAF matters and criminal law from 2012 to 2021 and was a co-owner of Kirsten-Khumalo Production from 2002 to 2010.

He has also been a legal representative for notable personalities. In 2020, Khumalo represented Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini after the Operation Dudula leader’s arrest.

In 2023, he represented advocate Malesa Taffo, who faced charges of malicious damage to property, assault, and theft. He and his legal team later withdrew from representing Taffo.

Controversy

Apart from being an advocate, Khumalo is a controversial personality and a political analyst. He has spoken on sensitive topics on xenophobia, employment, religion, and politics.

Advocate ike Khumalo was accused of inciting public violence relating to the July unrest and looting in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. He was later granted R3 000 bail by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

In May 2020, Khumalo interrupted Deborah Fraser’s memorial service in Johannesburg. He claimed to know about the gospel star’s struggles and was tired of the government’s “mistreatment towards artists”.
